Marian Hall Blotto:

Moyvane Village Festival:
The 2012 Festival took place over the Bank Holiday weekend and The National School Art Competition winners were announced last Friday morning in both Moyvane & Knockanure Schools. The standard of work submitted by everyone was extremely high. The winning pictures were on display over the weekend in the Marian Hall. The Development Association would like to thank all those who helped organise this competition especially the teachers in both schools. We would like to say a special word of thanks to Brenda Fitzmaurice who judged the art competition in such a professional manner. First place winners in Knockanure National School who received plaques were: Brona O’ Connor, Kelly Enright, Sarah Barrett, Alice Mc Mahon, Katie Keane, Lee O’Loughlin, Leona O’Sullivan, & Grace McElligott. First place winners in Moyvane National School who received plaques were: Becky Roche, Jack Quinn, Mary Kearney, Ava Fitzgerald, David Sexton Mc Enery, Eamon O’Connor, Jason O’Gorman, & Lewis Housden. All other students in both schools received medals for their work. Well done to each and everyone involved.

Moyvane Senior Badminton:
The first Fun Tournament of the season was held on last Wednesday night and the results were as follows: Ladies winners were Francine Collins and Mairead Sheehan, second, Saorcha Fitzgerald and Celia O’Grady, third, Carmel Hudson and Suzanne Keane. Division 5 Mens winners were Liam Corridan and Oliver "Jap" Carmody second, Dan Browne and Joe Coulson. third Timmy Larkin and Micheal Nolan. Division 2 & 4 Men winners Ger Flaherty and Ivan O’Brien, second, Paul Kennelly and Padraig Kearney, third, Denis Buckley and Jamie Elliott. Badminton continues on Monday & Wednesday nights at 8pm. Training for Division 5s on Monday at 7.30pm and on Wednesday for other divisions. First Kerry Competition is the November Handicap on Sunday, November 4th in Killarney, entries with fee of €6 to Fran by this Wednesday.

Senior Citizens:
Chiropodist will attend the Marian Hall on Friday, November 2nd at 11am. For appointment ring Eileen Quinn at 49472.

Community Alert:
Senior Citizens, in conjunction with Community Alert, will hold a public meeting about Home Security and Safety in the Home in the Marian Hall on Monday, November 5th at 7.30pm. Speakers will include Garda Liasion Officer Listowel (Home Security); Health Professional Sinéad Kearney (First Aid & Safety in the Home); Dave Fitzgibbon (Fire Alarms); Pat Leahy and Kay O’Hanlon (Personal Alarms). All welcome.

Barn Dance:
Knockanure Community Centre are holding a Barn Dance on Friday, November 2nd from 9pm to 12.30am. Music by Dermot Lyons. Prizes for best costumes. Admission €5 on the night or ring the centre for tickets on 068 49799. (Proceeds to Knockanure Community Centre)

Yoga Classes:

ICA:

Father & Son:
A documentary about the life & times of Paddy Finucane T.D and his son Mick who played in The Polo Grounds in New York in 1947 will be screened for the first time in St. John’s Theatre, Listowel on Friday, November 9th at 8pm, for one night only. This is a portrait of the young and the old in the 1960s from Urlee, Lisselton & Ballydonoghue with a look back to the Brick & Cashen drainage scheme. Admission €5.00. Certificate in Counselling:
