This Saturday night, after Mass (around 8.15pm) the Development Association have invited Santa Claus to turn on the Christmas Tree lights. There will be Carol Singing etc. so come along and enjoy the evening.

The ICA held a very successful Family Fun Day on Sunday, November 24th. There was a large crowd and everyone enjoyed the day. The draw winners are as follows:

  • First Prize: Hamper valued at €100 sponsored by Newtownsandes Co. op was won by Eilish Perryman from Listowel.
  • Second Prize: Turkey Voucher sponsored by Tom and Eileen Roche was won by Rory Lally.
  • Third Prize: Christmas Ham won by Siobhan Lynch, Leitrim Middle, Moyvane.
  • Fourth Prize: Christmas Cake won by the O’Flaherty Family, Murhur, Moyvane.
  • Guess the name of the Toy and guess the number of sweets in the jar – both won by Kaleigh Cocoran – lucky girl!

Just a reminder, Hard Times 1 will be screened in the Classic Cinema, Listowel on Friday, December 06 at 8.00pm.  All proceeds donated to Aras Mhuire Nursing Home, Listowel. 

Don’t forget the next social day for the Active Retired takes place next Monday, December 09.  Mass at 12.00 noon, followed by meal at 1pm.  Music by Stevie Donegan. Price €10.  All welcome.  If attending please ring office on 068 49799.  New members especially welcome.

Keep the date, Friday, December 27th for a Ceili in The Marian Hall, Moyvane. This is a fundraiser for the North Kerry branch of MS Ireland, an organisation that provides support for so many people. Music is by Donie Nolan and start time is 9.30pm. 

Winterfest in Newcastle West will take place from December 6th to December 15th. There is a jam packed programme that includes an art exhibition, Christmas markets, food trail, recitals by the Belfast Chime & Handbell Choir, Living Crib, Family Sunday, falconry display & lots lots more!  For full details please check and support this not for profit community event.

A dance in aid of the local volunteers with the  Ray of Sunshine Foundation who are travelling to Kenya in January will take place at Fr. Casey’s Clubhouse on Sunday, December 8th from 3pm-6pm. Teas served. Admission €5. Music by Donie Walsh. Your support is welcomed.

Knocknafierna Rambling House will hold a special second anniversary remembrance for the late Johnny Donegan on Sunday, December 15 at the Desmond Complex, Newcastlewest (behind the library) at 7.30pm. This “A night at the Rambling House” is a must for all traditional entertainers. A raffle will be held on the night. All are welcome and admission is free.
