Moyvane Notes – 4th February, 2007

Moyvane GAA:
The AGM of Moyvane GAA was held in the Marian Hall on Friday 2nd February. A large crowd attended the meeting and the following officers were elected:

  • Vice Chair – Mike Brosnan
  • Secretary – Micheál Walsh
  • Assistant Secretary/PRO – Aine Cronin
  • Treasurers – Martin Kennelly, Teddy Keane & Eddie Joe Mulvihill
  • County Board Delegate – Eddie Joe Mulvihill
  • Senior Selectors – Eamon Sweeney, Jerry Mulvihill, Johnny Stack, Paudie Keane & Mike Brosnan
  • Junior – Joe O Keefe, Tomás Keane & John Behan
  • U-21 Manager – Kieran Stack
  • Minors – Paddy Leahy, Ger Greaney & Diarmuid Fitzmaurice


Moyvane were narrowly beaten by Ballylongford/Asdee in the NKC semi-final which was played in Con Brosnan Park on Saturday 3rd February. Moyvane led by 6 points in the second half after a well taken goal by Paddy Curtin. However Bally/Asdee fought back and at the final whistle they emerged victorous with a score of 2-10 to 2-08. Moyvane had some great passages of play throughout the game and with the majority of the team qualifying for the U21's again next year, they can only improve in the future. The pitch was in excellent condition and added to the the quality of the football played.

Annual Parish Retreat:
The Annual Parish Retreat for Moyvane & Knockanure will take place at the Ardfert Retreat Centre on Sunday 18th February. For further information and booking, contact Nodie Brosnan (49352), Julia Stack (49401) or Bridie Shine (49103).

Ladies Gaelic Football:
The AGM. for the Ladies Gaelic Football takes place on 12th of February at 8pm in the Marian Hall. All parents & friends welcome.

Registration will follow on Sunday 18th February at 12 o’clock at the Marian Hall. Fee is €30 per player.

The Samaritans are recruiting volunteers for the Kerry Branch. Anyone interested may phone the Samaritans on 066-7122566 and they will be in touch. An information evening will be held in the Samaritan Centre, 43/44 Moyderwell in Tralee on Wednesday 7th February at 8pm, two weeks later the Recruitment evening will be held in the Centre at the earlier starting time of 7.30pm (Feb. 21st).

West Limerick Set Dancing:
The West Limerick Set Dancing Club are holding a set célí this Sunday, February 11th at 3pm. Music by Fodhla.

The death took place of Mary Lynch (nee O’Connor), Woodgrove, Moyvane. She was 92 years of age. She was buried in Ahavoher cementery and is survived by one brother, one sister, sons – Thomas, Liam and Joseph. Sympathy is extened to the breeved family.
