Moyvane Notes – 6th April, 2009

US Immigration:
Are you planning a holiday in the US? Do you know that you now have to register with US Customs and Border Protection at least two weeks before you travel? Go to http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/ and register. Your registration is good for two years. If you are traveling on a J1 you don’t have to register.

GAA:
Seniors:
Moyvane seniors had the perfect start to their County League campaign with a 3 point win away to Scartaglin on Saturday last. Playing well in all areas of the field, Moyvane dominated the first half, both in attack and defence, to lead at the break on a score of 0-11 to 1-3. Playing against a strong wind in the second half, Moyvane added 2 more points to their tally, ending the game 0-13 to 1-7. Moyvane’s next game is in the North Kerry League semi-final which will be played in Ballylongford on Saturday April 11th at 7pm against Tarbert or Listowel Emmets.
Minors: Moyvane minors lost to Asdee/Ballylongford in the County League. Final score 3-12 to 2-4.
Juniors: Moyvane juniors are away to Listowel in Round 1 of the North Kerry League this Wednesday evening, April 8th at 7pm. In Round 2 Moyvane are away to Duagh on Tuesday April 14th at 7pm.
U21: Moyvane are through to the semi-final of the North Kerry League, on Monday April 13th against St. Senans.
Club Day: Preparations are underway for Club Day which will be held on May 10th  to celebrate 125 years of the GAA. Every club will organise fun activities in their community. Details later.

Badminton:
In Kenmare, the Division 4 Moyvane team, Carolanne Warilow, Francine Collins, Deirdre McElligott, Donnacha Moloney, Pat Walsh and Chris McCarthy, beat the home side 4-3 in the Knock Out Cup. In Listowel, Chris McCarthy won the Division 4 Invitation Tournament and Carolanne Warrilow played up a Division and won the Division 3 Invitation Tournament and on Sunday she partenered Donnacha Moloney and they became the first club members to win the Munster Mixed Doubles title. Carmel Hudson & Donie Enright won the Plate at the Division 2 Mixed Championships in Castleisland. Members don’t forget our end of season tournament on Wednesday, April 22nd at 8pm. All members are expected to play.

Easter Ceremonies:
  • Holy Thursday – Mass of the Lord’s Supper in Knockanure at 7pm & Moyvane 8pm.
  • Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinence. Solemn Liturgy of the Passion at 3pm. Stations of the Cross in Knockanure at 7pm & Moyvane 8pm.
  • Holy Saturday. Please note Mass is at 9pm in Moyvane for Nora Brosnan, Barragougeen and the deceased members of the Joy family.
  • Easter Sunday Mass in Knockanure at 10am for Bridie and Daniel Keane. Mass in Moyvane 11am.

Dawn Mass:
Dawn mass will take place in Tarbert at 6am on Easter Sunday morning.
