Moyvane Notes – 6th March, 2008

Confirmation:
Congratulations to the 28 children from Moyvane and Knockanure National Schools who made their Confirmation on Monday week last. The ceremony was celebrated by Bishop of Kerry, Bill Murphy, assisted by Fr Lucid, Fr Hayes, Fr Maher, Fr. OConnell and Fr. Nolan. The children and parents participated in the readings, prayers of the faithful, offertory procession and communion reflection.

Rain:
16mm of rain fell in the Moyvane area last week.

Old Saying:

Senior Badminton:
The Division 5 Ladies and Mens Leagues got under way last week. On Tuesday, the ladies defeated Listowel A 4-3 in Listowel. The team was Francine Collins, Eleanor Sheehan, Krystle Crowley and Michelle Corridan. On Thursday, the men defeated Kenmare 5-1 at home. The team was Sean Pender, Maurice Cuddigan, Edward Stack and Padraig Hanrahan.

Juvenile Badminton:
The final championship event of the season, the mixed doubles, was held in Tralee on Saturday. Moyvane players contested all three finals. Sarah O'Connor and Joe Coulson were u12 finalists, Aileen and Aidan Kennelly won at u14, and Elaine Hudson and Kevin Fitzmaurice won u16. Well done to all.
