Moyvane Notes – 7th September, 2005


The Moyvane Group have now formed a new soccer club in the parish,  it will  be known as Newtown Athletic. Over the years many people  were going to  neighbouring parishes during the winter months to  play soccer. The group have  rented out the Creamery field as their  playing field.

Most farmers have  all the harvesting completed,  it had been a great year and especially for grass  growth. Most  householders have their turf saved and brought home.

Senior  Badminton resumes on Monday September 5th in the Community Centre  at  8pm.

Comhaltas : Congratulations to Kieran Flavin who  got 1st place in  the Tin Whistle U12 and to Dan Keane who got  3rd place in the Newly Composed  Ballads at the All Ireland Fleadh  Cheoil last weekend.

Listowel Rotary  Club are holding a  fashion Show on Monday 12th of September in the Listowel Arms  Hotel  at 8pm. The fashion Show is in aid of the John B. Keane Monument  and Kerry  Christmas Appeal in association with Radio Kerry and  the Rotary Clubs of  Kerry.

As Part of the heritage Week  2005, the Seanchai Centre, Listowel  will host a lecture on historic  Sites of North Kerry,by Padraig O Concubhair,  President of the  Kerry Historical & Archaeological Society on Wednesday 7th  September  at 8pm. Admission free and all are welcome.
Free tours of Listowel  castle are also available all week from 9.30am to 4.30pm and the  last days of  tours for the 2005 season is Monday 12th September
SENIORS         Moyvane defeated Cromane in the County league last Sat. night in Moyvane to ensure their Div. 4 status for next year.   Moyvane were the much stronger outfit and with the forwards in fine shooting form the points were in the bag at half-time when they led 0 – 10 to 0 – 02.  Moyvane continued to dominate the second half and ran out winners by 1 – 20 to 1 – 4.   Our next game will against Brosna in Brosna on Sat. night  Sept.17th . at 6.30 again in the County league.


DEVELOPMENT   The club wish to thank everybody for their co-operation while work is going on the stand and surrounds.   Please be careful and obey the warning signs.  Hopefully it will be completed in the next few weeks.
