Moyvane Notes – 8th June, 2002

MOYVANE seniors had a good win over Ballylongford in the Michael Kennelly Cup on Sunday evening last. This was a good game despite the rain that fell all through and the Moyvane forwards took their scores very well. Final score Moyvane 0 – 11, Ballylongford 1 – 5. The second round is Saturday night, June 15. More details next week. On Saturday night Moyvane play Lispole in Moyvane at 8 p.m., in the County League.

The juniors are playing Emmets in the North Kerry league final on Thursday night in Mountcoal at 7.30 p.m. They have put in a big effort in reaching this final.

The under 14’s were defeated by Tarbert in the North Kerry league on Wednesday, night last.

With no winners of last Thursday night’s blotto jackpot €9,000 is now up for grabs. The winning numbers were 3, 6, 23, 27 and John Walsh of the Half Way Bar was just one number away from scooping the pot, he had 22 instead of 23. There were four other Match threes who won €40 each. The death has occurred of Hanna Doyle (nee O’Connor) Glin Rd., and late of Aughrim. Her remains were removed to Moyvane Church, on Monday last. She was buried in Ahavoher cemetery, following Requiem Mass on Tuesday. She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

The death has occurred on Chris Sweeney (nee Lynch), Carrueragh. Her remains were removed to Knockanure Church on Sunday last. She was buried in the Old Cemetery, Listowel following Requiem Mass on Monday last. She is survived by her nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

This Saturday the Lough Gur and District Historical Society will visit the museum in Castlebar and call on such places as Clonfert. There may still be seats available on the bus and those interested may ring Austin Cregan, Michael Quinlan or Elizabeth Clifford for information. This outing is the main event of the year under the auspices of the society and always attracts a big crowd.

Training for the under 10’s will be on Wednesday evening’s at 6 p.m., while the parish leagues are in progress. The summer camp will begin on Monday, June 24, at Hospital commencing at 10.30. Names to Geraldine at 087 6357058.
