Moyvane GAA:
Minors:
Moyvane minors lost out to Beale 2-7 to 3-8 in Round 3 of the County League, Division 5a on Saturday last. They are away to Asdee/Bally in Round 4 on Saturday, March 12th at 4:30pm.
Seniors: Moyvane’s first outing of 2011 ended in a win away to Knocknagoshel in Round 1 of the North Kerry League Division 2 on Sunday last. Moyvane were up 1-5 to 0-3 at half time and continued to play well in the second half winning the game on a final score of Moyvane 2-7, Knocknagoshel 0-6. Moyvane Scorers: Paddy Curtin 1-4, David Moloney 1-0, Timmy Kennelly 0-2 and Kieran Kiely 0-1. Please check fixture posters for Moyvane’s next North Kerry League game, as details are not finalised. 

Membership: Club membership is now open for the coming year, Players €40, Non-Players and Students €20.  Membership can be obtained from committee members. Closing date for 2011 membership is Monday, March 27th.
GAA Lotto Results: There was no winner of this week’s Jackpot of €4,200. Scór na bPáistí: The County Semi Finals of Scór Na bPaistí, which will take place at the Community Centre, Abbeydorney on Saturday, March 12th commencing at 6pm sharp. Moyvane will be well represented in 4 categories of the competition: In figure dancing – Lewis Housden, Aidan Swan, Kieran Swan, Micheal Fogarty, Aoife Bowler, Ciara Hudson, Annie Coulson and Aobha Quinn. Recitation – Shea Leahy. Ballad Group – Lisa Stackpool, Lisa Mulvihill, Laura Stack, Amiee Lindsell and Margaret Mulvihill. Novelty Act – Donal Stack, Colin Enright, Dylan Quinn, Gavin Kennelly, Micheal Collins, David O Carroll, Thomas Moore and Moira Flaherty. Please come along on the night and give Moyvane’s young, talented performers all the support they deserve. Best of Luck to all involved. 
Moyvane Ladies Football: A meeting will be held on Monday, March 14th in the Marian Hall at 8.30pm, all welcome, parents and mentors needed. Registration will be held on Monday, March 21st in the Marian Hall at 8.30pm.

Set Dancing: 

West Limerick Set Dancing Club Ceili will be held in the Devon Inn, Templeglantine on St. Patrick’s night, March 17th at 9:30pm.  Music is by the Striolan Ceili Band and everyone is welcome. The monthly céilí will be held in the Convent Hall, Abbeyfeale on Sunday, March 20th at 4pm with music by Ui Bhrians Ceili Band. Teas will be served and everyone welcome.

Scoil Chorp Chríost, Knockanure:

Scoil Chorp Chríost parent’s association, Knockanure will hold a Church Gate collection on Sunday March 20th. Your support would be greatly appreciated. The parent’s association held a Pub Quiz in Flynn’s Bar on Friday, March 4th. To all who attended, occupied tables and bought raffle tickets, thank you. Thanks to the teachers for supplying the questions and keeping the score. Thanks also to Anne & Gerry Woods for the use of their premises and supplying the amplification, the Marian Hall, Moyvane for the loan of chairs, Scoil Chorp Chríost for tables and Flynn’s Bar & Enda Murphy, Taxi for extra spot prizes. The winning team was Brendan Keane, Bunaghara, Lily & Davey Morris, Coilbee & Margaret McCarthy, Coilbee who very kindly donated their winnings to the parent’s association. Runners up, following a tie breaker round were Jeremy & Fiona Gould, Liz Coleman, Yvonne & Breda Caplice, Michelle Hennessy & Ca O’Regan. 


Senior Badminton:

The Division 5 Men’s League team of Oliver Carmody, William Quirke, Timmy Larkin and Micheal Nolan defeated Listowel 4-0 in Listowel on Tuesday night last week. Division 3 Doubles Championships were played in Killarney on Friday night; Donie Enright and James Sheehan were Finalists. In the Ladies Division 3 plate Elaine Hudson and Saorcha Fitzgerald were winners and Nora Conyard and her partner Mary O’Donoghue, Kingdom were finalists. At the Men’s Doubles Championships in Tralee on Sunday Oliver Carmody was finalist in the Division 5 Plate.

Knockanure GAA Membership:
Club membership is now available for 2011. This year’s membership has to be submitted to Central Council before March 31st. Anyone who wishes to become a member of Knockanure GAA club must give their name and fee to club officers before Friday, March 25th, 2011


Poker Classic:
The Tarbert  Annual Poker Classic will take place at Kirby’s Lantern’s Hotel on Friday, March 11th, starting at 8:30pm. This has proved to be a very popular event and I’m sure it will do likewise again this year, all proceeds donated to charitable causes.


Senior Citizens:
Chiropodist will attend the Marian Hall on Saturday, March 12th at 2pm. For appointment ring Eileen Quinn at 49472.

Moyvane ICA:
Line Dancing is on Wednesday, March 9th. Beginners at 8pm. All other dancers at 8.30pm.

Aerobics & Body Conditioning:
Aerobics & body conditioning classes at Knockanure Community Centre will continue on Wednesday, March 9th 2011 from 8pm – 9pm for 8 weeks. Exercise to music, build your fitness and tone key areas at the same time. Fun, fast, fitness for all levels. Contact Maggie on 087-9866533.

Social Day for Active Retired:
The next Social Day for the Active Retirement Group takes place at Knockanure Community Centre on Monday, March 14th, 2011.
