Senior Badminton:
Moyvane Badminton has had great success in the last couple of weeks. The Division 5 Ladies defeated Kingdom 5 sets to 4 in Castleisland. The team was Celia O’Grady, Suzanne Keane, Charlotte Fitzgerald and Michelle Corridan. The men were unlucky losing 3-1 to a much improved Listowel team. Moyvane team was Jamie Elliott, Timmy O’Flaherty, Padraig Hanrahan and Mike Ryan, this completes the league for these teams and unfortunately neither team qualifies for the finals which will be played in Moyvane on Friday next in Moyvane at 8pm. The mixed teams, Division 4 and Division 5 will contest the finals in Castleisland on Wednesday, April 10th at 8pm. Both teams will have Killarney opponents. We wish them both the best of luck. The Division 3 Final will see our team in contention on April 15th, opposition, venue and time not yet known, best of luck to them also.
The Division 2 team defeated Kingdom at home also, 7-0 was the result and the team was Elaine Hudson, Saorcha Fitzgerald, Jeanelle Griffin, Pat Kearney, Donie Enright, Timmy Duggan and Denis Buckley. On Monday last the Division 2 team of Elaine Hudson, Carmel Hudson, Saorcha Fitzgerald, Timmy Duggan, Denis Buckley, Donie Enright and Pat Kearney defeated County 6-1. On Wednesday they lost 3-4 in Killarney but had already qualified for the Kerry Final, this means Moyvane will contest all four league finals which they had entered, starting with the Division 4 and Division 5  finals which will be played in Castleisland this Wednesday at 8pm, then on Monday 15th the Division 3 final will be played in Listowel. Best of luck to all players involved. The Division 2 final is to be arranged.
At the the mixed championships on Sunday Carmel Hudson and Dermot Keane were finalists in Division 3 as were Timmy O’Flaherty and his partner Bernie De Brun, Dingle. Reminder to all members please book tickets for the Kerry Badminton Dinner Dance asap.

This month’s talk will be given by Chris who will speak about companion planting and it’s benefits. We will also be our second seed/plant swap of the season so please bring any unwanted seeds or excess plants and who knows you might just pick up that seed/plant you have been looking for. There is no need to bring anything if you don’t have spares and you can still take what you see during the swap. From June/July we will be taking Limerick West GIY on the road visiting some of the many interesting gardens of other members. If you would like to host a meeting at your garden let us know at the next meeting and a month that would suit. Chris Enright, Limerick West GIY. 0879918956.
