Moyvane Notes – 9th February, 2002

SENIOR Citizen’s committee: Monday, Friday 11, has been designated as World Day of the sick. To celebrate the occasion, a prayer service (including anointing of the sick) will take place in the Marian Hall this Sunday at 3.00. Transportation available if needed, call 49478, 49472, 49408, 49489. Light refreshments will be served.

Community IT Access, Tarbert will be holding an Open Day/Information session this Saturday from 10.00 to 1.30 at New Offices, Church Street, Tarbert. Introductory Computer Classes will commence on Monday, February 18.

Development Association: The AGM of the Moyvane Development Association was held on last Friday night. The following officers were elected: chairman, Ger Walsh, vice-chairman Aine Cronin, secretary Bobby Stack, assistant secretary Anna Fogarty; treasurer Michael O’Sullivan and Tommy Roche; PRO Michael Hanrahan; development officer Seamus Roche; County Council delegates S. Roche, J. Sheehy and P. Leahy. The association is very grateful to those county councillors who allocated money towards same.

Development Association (continued): Deputy Jimmy Deenihan £500, Ned Sullivan £500, Denis Foley £500, Martin Ferris £500, Dan Kiely £1,000 and Pat Leahy £1,000.

A chiropodist will attend this Saturday, from 1.30 until 5.00 at the Marian Hall. Contact Eileen Quinn for an appointment at 49472.

Annual Day of retreat and prayer will take place at the Ardfert Retreat Centre on Sunday, February 24, from 10 a.m., until 6 p.m. cost €25, which includes lunch and supper, bus extra. For booking contact Noreen Brosnan (49352), Julia Stack (49401) or Bridie Shine (49103).

Moyvane/Knocknagoshel Community Games will be held this Friday. The first event of Community Games will be held in the Mermaids Listowel. It is Adult Quiz, team consists of three adults and three U-17’s. A team from Moyvane/Knockanure will take part. Starting time 8 p.m. The annual Moyvane/Knockanure Church gate collection will be held at all Masses next weekend.

Tickets are on sale for our GAA Club draw and are going very well. We are again asking for your support. We have some great prizes on offer so book your tickets early. Cost of tickets €127 (£100) and can be had from any of the committee, or contact Teddy Keane at 49964 or 49101 for any information. Sellers will be calling in the next few weeks. Once again thank you very much for your continued support. We are meeting on Monday, February 11, night to update our position so we are asking all ticket sellers to please attend. Meeting will start at 8 p.m., sharp.

Senior Scor will take place in Asdee this Saturday at 7.30. Moyvane has competitors in a few events on the night.

Tara Mulvihill will be in the All Ireland final of Juvenile Scor in Athlone very shortly.
