GAA Social:
Moyvane GAA Club are holding a social in Kirbys The Lanterns Hotel on Friday 8th February at 8pm. Music by PJ Murrihy, followed by disco. Tickets cost €30 and can be obtained from committee members or by calling 087-9817883. A presentation will be made to Seán Walsh on the night, along with the presentation of Novice County Championship medals to the senior team.
AGM:
The AGM of Moyvane GAA Club will be held in the Marian Hall, Moyvane on Friday 11th January at 8pm. All members welcome to attend the meeting.
Newtown Athletic:
Newtown Athletic FC wish to thank sincerely everyone who supported them in their recent fundraising race night in Speedy's Bar. The club would like to acknowledge the support of all those who sponsored the event, those who bought horses prior to the race meeting and the generosity of those who bought horses in the auction race. Thanks to MC for the night, Tom Moore, who excelled in his task, to Ger Keane for providing the video and amplification, to the tote helpers, to the raffle ticket sellers, to the food caterers, to the hardworking staff at Speedys and to Speedy himself for hosting the race night. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making the night a tremendous success.
Newtown Athletic unluckily went down 2-1 away to Castlegregory on Sunday last. They donimated most of the game but unfortunately only took 1 of the many chances they created. Scorer for Newtown was Denis Kennelly.
Set Dancing:
Adult Set Dancing with Timmy Woulfe recommences on Monday 7th January at 8pm for beginners and 8.30pm for all dancers.

Death:
The death took place, recently, of Micheal Barrett, Moher, Moyvane at Listowel District Hospital. Deeply regretted by his sister, Kit Culhane, Glin, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. His remains were removed to Moyvane Church on Sunday evening last and he was buried in Murhur cemetery following requiem mass. He was 87 years.
The death took place, recently, of Francis Thornton, late of Kilbaha, who died in Crawley, England.
The death took place on December 18th of Paddy Healy, Listowel and late of Clountubrid. He was 83 years of age. He was the husband of the late Johanna (nee Moore), Glin Road, Moyvane. He is survived by his daughter Maureen and son Tony. Burial took place at Ahavoher Cemetery.
