Moyvane Notes – 9th March, 2009

GAA:
Seniors: Moyvane seniors played their first game under lights last Friday night in Listowel. A North Kerry League fixture, Moyvane took care of Listowel Emmets, winning by 1-5. Down by 1 point at half time, Moyvane upped the pace in the second half  to win the game on a final score line of Moyvane 2-12, Listowel Emmets 1-7.  Moyvane team and scorers: Diarmuid Fitzmaurice, Mike Woods, Diarmuid Leahy, Timmy Kennelly, Aidan Keane (0-1), Mossy Mulvihill, Eoin Stack (0-1), Donal Leahy, Kieran Stack (0-1), Damien O’ Flynn (0-1), Denis Kennelly, James Kennelly (0-1), Cal O’ Flynn (1-2), Michael O’ Connor, Jackie Mulvihill (1-3).  Subs: Patrick Finucane for Kieran Stack, D.J Keane (0-2) for Cal Flynn, Kevin Kennelly for Damien Flynn, Kieran Walsh for Michael O’ Connor. 
Moyvane’s next game is at home to Tarbert next weekend in the North Kerry League.  Please check posters for time and date of this fixture.
Minors: Moyvane are away to Duagh on Monday March 16th at 5pm in the County League.
Membership: Club membership is now available from committee members at €40 for players and €20 for non players.
Coiste na nOg: Training times are as follows: U12 – Every Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm beginning March 11th. U14 – Every Thursday from 7pm to 8pm beginning March 12th. U16 – Thursday March 12th from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.  All players must bring their registration fee to training.
Ladies GAA: U14 and U16 girls will have training each Saturday from 11:30am to 1pm.

Moyvane ICA:

Meeting this Wednesday night at 8pm. Members of the ICA will sell daffodils at Masses on this Saturday & Sunday for the Irish Cancer Society. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Badminton:

It was a very busy and successful week for the senior club, with four matches played and four won. On Wednesday the Division 2 team of Jennifer Keane, Marguerite Lynch, Carmel Hudson, Nora Conyard, Michael J. O’Connor, John Mulvihill & Donie Enright defeated Killarney 4-3. Tuesday saw the Division 5 team, Sorcha Fitzgerald, Edel Normoyle, Ciara Healy, Eileen Roche, Padraig Hanrahan, Micheal Nolan & Martin Flynn beat Listowel 4-3. Wednesday the Division 2 men’s team defeated Kingdom 4-2. The team was Michael J. O’Connor, Noel Gilbride, John Mulvihill & Donie Enright. Finally, on Thursday night the Division 3 mixed team, Jeanelle Griffin, Carmel Hudson, Nora Conyard, Marion Hanrahan, Kevin Stack, Donie Enright, Michael Corridan and Ollie Conyard defeated Kingdom 5-2. Well done to all. Good to see that badminton is still alive and well in Moyvane.

Céilí:

Listowel Comhaltas will hold a céilí in The Listowel Arms Hotel on next Monday night, March 16th at 9pm. Music by Michael Sexton & Pat Walsh Céilí Band.
