The death has taken place of Bridie Barrett (nee O’Connor). She taught for many years in Moyvane. She is survived by her sons. She was buried in Listowel Cemetery. Sympathy has been extended to the bereaved family.

Moyvane juniors play Laune Rangers ‘C’ in the final of the Barrett Cup on Sun. October 24 in Blennerville at 12 noon.

Moyvane seniors were defeated by Emmets in the semi-final of the County Junior championship. Moyvane were well on top in the first half and at the break led by 0 – 9 to 0 – 5. But the stronger Emmets lads gradually got into the game and at the final whistle won on a score of Emmets 0 – 14, to Moyvane 0 – 11.

Moyvane minors are playing Ballydonoghue in the North Kerry championship but no date has been fixed yet.

The seniors will meet the winners of Emmets or Ballydonoghue in the second round of the senior championship.

The U-13 game with Emmets was cancelled due to weather conditions on Sunday so it is hoped to play it next Sunday. Players will be notified.

The West Limerick Set Dancing Club are holding a Ceili this Sunday at 3.30 p.m. in the Convent Hall, Abbeyfeale. Music by Michael Sexton.

Kerry Parent’s and Friends of the Mentally Handicapped. Fund-raising night will be held in Joe’s Bar this Friday night at 9 p.m. Draw for prizes on the night Music supplied by Eileen and the San Antone.

North Kerry together in conjunction with F.A.S. would like to invite you to participate in one of two courses being held in the coming month. The courses are specifically targeted for unemployed people.

The courses available are: (a) Job Search and Interview Skills Course and (b) Idea Generation and Business Development Course for Micro-Enterprises particularly for those interested in setting up their own business or becoming Self Employed. Course Duration: One night a week over eight weeks. Location: Listowel.

The marriage took place of Geraldine Hanrahan, Kilbaha and Maurice Dwane, Limerick at the Church of the Assumption, Moyvane.

The marriage took place of Anna Enright, Moyvane and James Fogarty, Ballybunion at the Church of the Assumption Moyvane. The reception was held in The Devon Inn.

A Parenting Course will commence next Monday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Marian Hall. The cost per person is £20 and the course will run for eight to 10 weeks. Anyone interested in enrolling should attend at 8 p.m. on Monday.

Mr Patrick O’Sullivan N.T., Newtownsanders taught in Moyvane from 1930-1933, won a prize of a £100 for the best translations of famous novels. He died suddenly in 1968, attending a funeral at Gale Bridge.
