“A LEAP OF FAITH CHALLENGE” will take place on Sunday, August 21 in Croke Park. This is an Absail fundraiser for Kerry Cancer Support Group. Two local ladies, Brenda Kennelly & Frances Leahy are being daredevils for this worthy cause and would appreciate your support. Perhaps you are not familiar with this group, then let me fill you in. Their motto is: No one should face their cancer journey alone: Kerry Cancer Support Group is devoted to maintaining a warm, welcoming environment while ensuring that service users have immediate access to our free programmes and resources. Our professional staff strive to help people affected by cancer in a way that is as supportive and helpful as possible to achieve the highest quality of life. Kerry Cancer Support Group is a community-based, volunteer-driven, community-supported organisation. Their Health Link Transport was established 10 years ago to provide essential transport services to and from Cork to enable Cancer Patients attend appointments to receive treatment. To date this 100% VOLUNTARY FUNDED ORGANISATION has provided transport for over 3,000 service users who have attended over 23,000 cancer related appointments. They need to keep two buses and a jeep on the road for treatment trips. The increase in fuel costs is creating a major problem for the service, increasing their costs by €20,000 this year alone! Every Euro will be lifesaving and appreciated beyond measure. Check out the ladies on iDonate or Facebook. Sponsorship cards can be found in Frances’ Hair salon or Kennelly’s Hardware shop.
