Some interesting figures: In 2016, 25 new little people were born in our parish, 7 couples tied the knot and 12 of our friends left us.

Katie Collins, Knocknagorna, Athea recently married Neilius O’Connor, Kilbaha. The ceremony was performed by Fr. Brendan Duggan in Athea church. The best man was Willie Hanrahan and the groomsman was Mike Stanley. The bridesmaids were Elaine Tierney Collins, and Katherine O’Sullivan and the flowergirl was Hazel Hartnett. Reception was at The Devon Inn Hotel in Templeglantine.
Lisa Kearney, daughter of Angela & Joe, Moyvane Village recently married Derek Walsh, Salthill, Galway in the Cathedral Killarney.  The ceremony was performed by Fr. Kevin McNamara (P.P. Moyvane). Reception was held at the Malton Hotel, Killarney.  The couple will reside in Limerick.

AGM: The AGM of Moyvane GAA was held in the Marian Hall on Friday last.  Officers elected on the night for 2017 are as follows.

Coiste na N-Og: The AGM of Coiste na N-Og will take place on Friday January 15th at 8pm in the club room. All welcome to attend.
MEMBERSHIP: Club Membership is now open for 2017 at €40 for Players and €20 for Non-Players and Students.
U21’s: Moyvane/Tarbert U21’s played St.Senans in the 2016 NKC quarter final in Brosna on Saturday 7th. Moyvane/Tarbert were unlucky on the day and were defeated by Senans at a score of 0-5 to 1-13. Great heart was shown by all players but unfortunately, things didn’t go their way on the day.
BLOTTO: There was no winner of this weeks blotto which took place Sunday 8th of January in Speedy’s Bar. Numbers drawn we’re 4, 15, 24 & 28. Lucky Dip winners of €40 were Mike Lynch, Maurice Kearney, Liam Roche, Jackie Mulvihill and Tom Hudson. Next draw will take place on Sunday 15th of January in Enrights Bar, Moyvane at 10pm. Jackpot is €2,600. Tickets for the jackpot available in all local shops and pubs. If your not in you can’t win!

Morning fitness class for everyone in the Community commences on Thursday, January 12th at 9.30am in Knockanure Community Centre. Fun fitness for all levels of Fitness. All welcome. Evening classes at 7.30pm every Thursday – step in tone. All welcome. Call Maggie Large on 087/9866533.

Starting this Saturday, January 14th, in association with Operation Transformation, a Walk Day will begin at the Comprenhesive School at 9.30am. You are all welcome to join in.

If you would like to gain self confidence, self esteem and improve your ability to speak in public then you should check out the newest public speaking club in North Kerry.  The next meeting will be held in the Listowel Arms Hotel on Thursday,  January 19 from 8pm -10pm.  Admission €5 which covers cost of refreshments and rent of the room.  Further information from Gerard Mannix on 087 2193670.

North Kerry Wind Turbine Awareness Group are holding a Ceili in The Marian Hall, Moyvane on Saturday, February 4th from 9pm to 12midnight to help raise much needed funds to protect our community. John B Keane’s play The Highest House on the Mountain will  open at the Glórach Theatre on Thursday, January 12th with further shows on the 14th, 15th, 17th, 20th, 21st and 22nd January. This is one of John B’s most popular plays and if you haven’t already seen it you should make sure not to miss it this time around.

To the Keane Family, Clounbrane & the Fitzmaurice Family, Gurtdromasillihy on the death of their relative Nora Crane (nee Fitzmaurice) of Listowel & Moyvane, who died in Surrey, U.K.
Sr. Dympna Mulvihill (Cork and Moyvane) passed away on December 17th 2016, daughter of the late Edmund and Hannah Mulvihill, (Moyvane Village) and sister of Sr. Joan and the late Michael, Sr. Ursula and Mary. She is survived by her sister, Sr. Joan, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces.
Sympathy to Gerard & Tony Buckley, Knockanure on the death of their brother Neelie Buckley, Knockanure & London, and to the Corridan Family, Murhur on the death of their aunt Mary’s husband John Dillon, Duagh & Kanturk.
Breda Meehan nee Hudson of Kilbaha, Moyvane & Drimeen, Ennis and formerly of Culleen, Kilmaley died  December 14th. She is survived by her sons, daughter, daughters in law, son in law, grandchildren, brother, William, Kilbaha, sister, Eileen, Listowel.
The death took place recently in Co. Down of Mary McKenna. Mary was a member of a well known Glin Road Family, the Moores. She is survived by Breda, Tom & Jackie Moore all in the US and was predeceased by her sister Hannah Healy. May they all rest in peace.
