MARIAN HALL BLOTTO

UPDATE ON ROADS
A summary of the forthcoming works – issued by Murphy/GMC on October 9th – as follows: L1021 (Moyvane to Anamoy Bridge): Road closure from Monday 9th Oct to Friday 13th Oct. Road open in evenings and at weekends. Local access facilitated + diversion in place. L1015 ( Glen road out of Moyvane): Road closure until 20th Oct. Local access facilitated and diversion in place. Road closure is 24hrs but will be opened for the weekend. L1020 (Ahavoher Graveyard to N69 junction at Skehanierin. Coilagurteen Road): Road closure until 15th December. Road open at night and at weekends. Local access facilitated + diversion in place. Moyvane Village: Directional drill works will commence within the village on Saturday 7th Oct. Traffic control will be via traffic light controlled shuttle system.

MOYVANE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS
Despite the enormous amount of digging and drilling that is going on in the parish the village is still operating. There may be pockets of disruption but at this point, with communication and cooperation everybody is singing off the same hymnsheet. Please support your local businesses.

MOYVANE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION  FESTIVAL WEEKEND
Moyvane Development Association celebrates it’s 25th festival this October Bank Holiday weekend. Little did anyone think when the first festival took place in 1992 that it would still be going strong in 2017! Preparations are now being finalised for the weekend and hopefully the weather will be kind so that everyone can  enjoy the activities lined up. Presently the Primary Schools are busy preparing a class project based on the festival.

  • On Friday night, October 27th the third Rambling House will take place in The Marian Hall, starting at 8.30pm. Over the last 2 years this has proved to be a great night’s entertainment.
  • On Saturday night, the 14th Annual Boro Buffet will be held in a beautifully draped and decorated Community Centre. Food will be prepared by Kingdom Kitchen Catering and music and dancing with Tim Somers will follow. Doors open at 7.30pm. Meal served at 8pm sharp.
  • Sunday is an action packed day with something for all the family. The annual Vintage Rally display, Craft Fair and Farmer’s Market will take place in and around the Community Centre, starting at 12 noon. The local Youth Club are having a sponsored walk, meeting at 12.45pm and departing the Community Centre at 1.00pm. The Annual Dog Show takes place at 1.00pm in the Church Car Park. There will also be a kids tractor run in the school grounds at 1.15pm. In the Sports field a Family Fun day will take place with lots of activities for all the family. This starts at 1.30pm.
  • Sunday night is another night to look forward to with our first Barn Dance in the Community Centre. While fancy dress is optional, it is a chance for everyone to come out and kick back and enjoy the country and western atmosphere that will come to town!! Maybe you would like to dust down those cowboy boots or Stetsons or maybe you fancy yourself as a wicked witch…maybe you even want to come as yourself, whatever suits you, come along and enjoy the night! There will also be some spot prizes on the night!
  • Bank Holiday Monday sees the North Kerry Harrier’s Hunt season kick off at 12noon. At 1.30pm in the Marian Hall the Halloween Fancy Dress party takes place. This always proves to be a great success so come along and savour the atmosphere.

MOYVANE GAA
NOVICE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL:
 Moyvane 0-12 Cromane 1-12. The lads gave it their all and left their boots on the field, unfortunately Cromane were that bit stronger on the day! Keep up the good work lads and keep the heads high!
MOYVANE GAA LOTTO: There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €4,000, which took place in Hanrahan’s Bar. Numbers : 16, 20, 21, 24. Lucky Dips: 1) Adrian Stack c/o Speedy’s, 2) Carol Horgan, 17 Bruach na Gale, 3) Con McCarthy, Woodford, 4) John Holly, Tarbert, 5) Kevin Lenihan, Athea. Next weeks draw will take place in Speedy’s Bar on Sunday the 15th. Moyvane GAA would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

KERRY EMIGRANT SUPPORT
Kerry Emigrant Support housing association would like to thank you, the people of Moyvane/Knockanure, for your generosity. €685.47 was collected in the recent Church gate collection. Much appreciated.

MILFORD HOSPICE FUNDRAISER
For Milford Hospice and The Mid Western Cancer Foundation at the Devon Inn Hotel on Friday, November 3rd 2017. A night full of good food and wine, music, craic, fun, games and lots of prizes and surprises.There will be competitions for best dressed, best masquerade mask, best Halloween outfit and much more! Dance the night away to Keep in Touch band and DJ. Special guests on the night are Elma, Fionnbar & Jema Walsh of Donal Walsh #Livelife Foundation. All proceeds going to Milford Hospice and The Mid Western Cancer Foundation, two worthy cancer charities in the Mid West. Tickets are €55 per person. MOYVANE CHURCH CLOSED AS PAINTING BEGINS
Moyvane Church will be closed from Monday, October 9th until Friday, November 17th. BOOKED WEEKDAY MASSES Monday to Friday have been rescheduled to KNOCKANURE CHURCH. (Mass intentions will appear weekly in the Parish Newsletter. SATURDAY VIGIL & SUNDAY MASS will take place in the MARIAN HALL at the usual times of 7.30pm and 11am except for the Festival Weekend. SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT FOR FESTIVAL WEEKEND IN MOYVANE (Bank Holiday Weekend): All three Parish Masses will take place in KNOCKANURE CHURCH. The times are as follows: Saturday, October 28 Vigil Mass at 6pm and also a Mass at 7.30pm. Sunday, October 29 Mass at 11.00am  Please note ONE Sunday Mass only and don’t forget CLOCKS GO BACK. FUNERALS during this period: In the event of a Funeral Mass, the families in question will have the following choices:  Knockanure Church. One of the surrounding Parish Churches which may have a link with the family or The Community Centre.
